Pachter: Dragon Age III Pushed Back Due To The Old Republic Pages PREV 1 2 3 NEXT
Well its not that inaccurate, DA2 expansion got canned earlier in the year, so why not delay the sequel if you are binning the expansion. Might work out for the best, Maybe they'll have a good long hard look at DA3 when they get back to it after they've recovered from ME3 and the Star Wars MMO. I love DA:O, but DA2 felt like a chore... mind you it didn't upset me to the point that it upset others, but its something i was glad to have bought second hand.
Who the fuck cares? Just make it not shit.
This seems like a good idea, as much as I liked Dragon Age 2 there is a very noticeable feeling that it was kind of rushed (I always had the feeling that the folks at Bioware had just finished making the big, important bits of the story and were starting to flesh out the rest when someone lost their mind and moved up the release date like 4 months and refused to move it back). So the more time they spend on DA3, the better.
If Dragon Age 2 had been given another year it would have truly been a worthy sequel to DA:O (I still liked it, but it had far too many issues), if this is indeed the game that has been delayed I am not going to complain.
Basically this. The article is suggesting it has been delayed because the team was working on Old Republic. This does not mean that it has simply been pushed back, like a lot of games have. The implication here is that it has been put on hold, and frankly, if it were slated for a March 2013 release, then it'd still have the same development cycle as 2, and look how well that turned out. As much as I would like to see another Dragon Age game (I'm one of the few who didn't hate DA2, though in comparison to Origins it is unbelievably weak), I want to see a good Dragon Age game. It took me a while, but I decided I did like the Art Style of the second game. The first game was gritty and dirty, which suited the setting and the story, while the second game's 'story' was much different, and the art style sorta suited it. I would like to see the third one be a bit less clean - though I cant see it happening, since its going to be set mainly in Orlais - and I want the story to be deep, and rich, with a bunch of complex interesting characters who I can have full interaction with. I also want these characters to feel like real people, and not just arch stereotypes who want to instantly jump your bones as soon as you flutter your eye lashes at them. It takes the fun out of pursuing relationships when its that easy. Christ, I remember the amount of time and effort I had to put into getting Leliana in the sack, and it was satisfying. Saying 'My, aren't you a handsome wizard' upon first meeting a person being the only thing you need to do to get that person to fall madly in love with you is not satisfying. Unless its in real life, but that chat up technique hasn't worked for me so far. So yes Bioware, when the game gets back on track, put as much time as you need into it. I know that means its unlikely to come out before the next gen consoles, but if it means having a group of complex companions who you have to make an effort to try and keep happy while you make your way to Tevinter (We all want it, don't ignore us this time!) then I am happy to wait.
What a different world it would be, had they just made a true blue not mmo kotor 3, and took their time with dragon age 2....... Maybe we'd be enjoying those games right now instead of waiting on more content to be released for TOR or an ending fix to ME3.... /dream sequence.
>Patcher You know what time it is.
And now I'm going to ask, Star Child?
Reassigning DA3 people to work on Old Republic. Great, so DA3 will be another lazy asset and location reuse-fest. DAO: Explore the world! DA2: Explore a single city! DA3: It's a locked room mystery murder!
I didn't even know Dragon Age III had a release window yet, so this doesn't bother me at all. Now, if the game had a release window and then got pushed back, I'd be sad. If the release window was this year and then got pushed back into next year, I'd be very upset. I'm looking at you, BioShock Infinite...
I don't think this will happen. Bioware's pretty good at responding to criticism, especially when it comes to something this plainly obvious. Besides they've already talked about how they won't be re-using environments at conventions, and Bioware doesn't really talk about features unless they're already in the game.
You DON'T have to release it, I mean...
Why do people think Pachter is an analyst? Everything he says is either plain fuckin' wrong or just obvious. He's dumber than a box of rocks. I see the mandatory gametrailers video has been posted. Good.
This.... so much of this... I don't mind to wait 5 years more, if in the end Dragon Age 3 turns out to be good. Filling the shoes of :Origins and improving awesome with epic kind of good...
NNOooo. Kotor does not need anymore stupid add on shit. Let the oniline players kill each other and organise there own shit. But give Dragon age another go, DA2 was ok if a bit spammed it just needs improving on. I love Kung Fu Panda the sequel was way better.

My brain broke again. Today is not a good day for my brain.
Ahem... Casey Hudson on Mass Effect 3's endings, pre-release:
This was back in January, a mere 8 weeks before the game was released. Sorry, I hate to bring it up, but after Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, Bioware don't get a free pass on the pre-release publicity now.
The Star Child, having never been mentioned in the series, appeared at the very end of Mass Effect 3 depicted as the specter of the child that Shepard watched die on Earth at the beginning of the game, cosmicly transparent hoodie and all. He showed Commander Shepard how to use the Ending-tron v3000.1 after giving a very weak explanation as to why he has been murdering trillions for the past hundreds of thousands of years and why he has decided to let Shepard decide what to do. I have to be honest, I DO NOT GIVE A SHIT about the entire controversy and I think that Mass Effect and Bioware are both horribly overrated, but having watched someone stream the ending, I can tell you that it felt as awkward and rushed as you could possible imagine. Painkiller had a more coherent storyline.
I have never heard of this man before I saw this video. I have never laughed so damn hard at another human being until I saw this video. Thank you sir, for sharing this video. captcha: underpants, indeed... they were wet.
I don't think this has anything to do with the ME3 Star Child. I'm pretty sure the reference is to Morrigan's potential child. It's not so much a dragon child as the child of an elder god.
People still care about Dragon Age 3? Did I miss something? I thought this stopped being relevant after Bioware shit the bed.
I wonder if they actually believe any of the stuff they are saying. It makes me so depressed if so.
DAMN STRAIGHT! Seriously, they could've held off on ME3 for another year or so too, as far as I am concerned.
And BioWare's Dragon Age series is neglected for TOR, a MMO that already looks like it's gonna fail in doing what people said it was going to do. ... No offense, but I really, really hope TOR falls so BioWare can spend more time on Dragon Age and any new IPs.
Bullshit, it was pushed back because now they know what people's standards are like after ME3 blew up in their faces.
I dont think Mass effect 3 was crap, ending aside it was a worthy end to the trilogy
I'll wait, Bioware. I'll buy it hot off the shelf if you show restraint and do the job that all but the last 20 minutes of ME3 was, or that DA:O was. DA2 was far too fast, and it desperately suffered. As to whether they're moving to TOR or not, I'll not speculate, but if it means a better quality DA3 game for them taking a step back from it for a minute, I'm okay with it. Also, how does Michael Pachter still have a job? Dude's a terrible analyst.
I thought they already did that.
Ending aside, it was a worthy end is kinda LUL worthy, don't you think?
i.....hmmm...poor choice of words it was a worthy 3rd entry in the series
Sadly, I'm completely over anything Bioware, and it is all because of Mass Effect 3's ending being made by/for lobotomized rocks. I didn't hate DA 2, except for the fact that it took them 2 or so years, and they "forgot" to have more areas... Just the same one over and over, maybe with a closed door. I could have forgiven that, and indeed, I did. ME3 just made me no longer care about any Bioware game.
EA: We flog live horses, then we flog the dead ones.
Don't make fun of the setting; it's a brilliant setting... Just poorly written and designed. Spending 10+ years in the same city could translate into some choices having some long term consequences your average RPG couldn't encounter due to engine problems... Along with other mechanics that could have been an off-shoot to the fact your a noble or something to do with using magic in sight of a Templar... Sadly Bioware did none of that but yes; abuse the writers not the setting.
