Skyrim Anniversary Edition Announced, Includes Fishing & Survival Mode

At QuakeCon 2021, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It will launch on November 11, 2021, exactly 10 years from the day when the game first launched.

This version of the game will have a decade’s worth of content, including the three official add-ons, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. It will also have over 500 Creation Club elements such as quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, and spells. Additionally, a new fishing mechanic and a Survival mode have been implemented as well, alongside new “Saints and Seducers” quests. Those who purchased The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on PS4 and Xbox One will have the option to pay for an upgrade to the Anniversary Edition, and those who purchase the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the upcoming Anniversary Edition will be eligible for a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series versions too.

Interestingly, despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda last year, Skyrim Anniversary Edition is still coming to PlayStation platforms. It brings up renewed questions about whether or not The Elder Scrolls VI will be exclusive to Microsoft’s ecosystem in the future. However, Bethesda’s upcoming Starfield is exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X | S. Both games were announced back in 2018 with no official confirmation at that time which platforms they would appear on.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was originally released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 back on November 11, 2011. It was subsequently ported to almost every other platform in existence, including Nintendo Switch.
