Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Arrives Next Year, Reveals High Evolutionary

At San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2022, Marvel and director James Gunn shared a bunch of little new details for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. For starters, actor Chukwudi Iwuji appeared dressed up as the villain the High Evolutionary, who will feature in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Additionally, the movie will in part explore the origins of Rocket Raccoon, who in an SDCC-exclusive trailer was briefly shown as a baby. Via journalist Borys Kit, James Gunn explained of Rocket, “He’s got to be the saddest creature in the universe. And that’s what this (movie) is partly about.”

The new tidbits don’t stop there. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will also reportedly be a doomed love story of some kind. And while this will be the final Guardians film in the MCU, it does not mean that everyone is going to die. In fact, we’re not even done discussing new characters. Maria Bakalova, who played Borat’s daughter in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, will play Cosmo the Space Dog. And as was previously revealed, Will Poulter will play Adam Warlock. James Gunn reportedly revealed that Adam Warlock was originally going to appear in the second Guardians movie, but he is glad that did not happen because Poulter is perfect in the role for this movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023 with Adam Warlock, the High Evolutionary, Cosmo the Space Dog, and a briefly baby Rocket Raccoon in tow.
