All Classes in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign features eight different Nightfarers. Here's what you need to know about all the classes and their abilities.

Elden Ring Nightreign features eight different classes called Nightfarers, each with its own skills and abilities.

Although these classes have a predetermined playstyle, you’ll still need to explore the world to get your hands on gear and armor sets. All eight classes are unique, and when combined in a group, they are bound to come up with some specific interactions that could make the boss fights a breeze or extremely painful, depending on how skilled you are.

All Nightfarer classes in Elden Ring Nightreign, explained

Duchess

The Duchess is a close combat class, where you’ll need to be very close to the enemy if you want to deal damage. Despite the passive allowing you to dodge twice, you’ll need to be careful because your stamina bar might just run out quickly.

  • Passive: Magnificent Poise – Dodge and attack two consecutive times swiftly at reduced stamina cost.
  • Character Skill: Restage – Reapply whatever damage your team has dealt in the past few seconds to the enemy.
  • Ultimate: Finale – Disorient the enemy by casting an invisibility spell on yourself and your team.

Guardian

The Guardian is a pure tank class, tailored to absorb damage rather than deal it to the enemy. Extremely viable for solo play, this Nightfarer is one of the least squishy classes in Elden Ring Nightreign.

  • Passive: Steel Guard – Reinforces your guard by raising your shield, which in turn raises your defense points at the cost of your ability to run.
  • Character Skill: Whirlwind – Create a huge whirlwind by beating your wings, which is capable of deflecting projectiles and knocking down smaller enemies.
  • Ultimate: Wings of Salvation – Dive from the air and hit the ground, which creates an area of defense, but at the cost of aerial movement.

Iron Eye

For the first time, Bandai Namco has made archers a viable class in their games. The Iron Eye is a pure archer class, and is not only capable of dealing damage, but it also creates opportunities for other classes to deal enhanced damage with its character skill.

  • Passive: Eagle Eye – Increase enemy drops for yourself and your teammates.
  • Character Skill: Markings – Create a temporary mark on the enemy that acts as a weak point for your teammates to deal additional damage. Continuous attack on this mark increases its duration.
  • Ultimate: Single Shot – Fire a single arrow capable of piercing through structures and defenses.

Raider

The Raider is a Tank DPS hybrid, but leans into a slow and heavy playstyle. If you’re using this Nightfarer in Elden Ring Nightreign, then you’ll mostly be using heavy weapons. Yes, you will be sacrificing mobility, but your ability to deal burst damage will be huge.

  • Passive: Fighter’s Resolve – Boosts your character skill by giving you more defense points and prevents you from getting knocked down.
  • Character Skill: Retaliate – Assume a defensive posture and retaliate with a punch that staggers the enemy for a short duration whenever you take damage.
  • Ultimate: Totem Stela – Summon a huge tombstone that damages the enemy on impact. You can also use it as a platform to climb and launch aerial attacks.

Recluse

This is one of the only two ranged magic classes that you can use while exploring the lands in between. This is also probably the only Nightfarer capable of dealing elemental damage using its ability kit, rather than relying on a specific weapon or item.

  • Passive: Elemental Defense – Replenish FP by collecting elemental residues.
  • Character Skill: Magic Cocktail – Mix elemental residues to create complex spells. Can also combine enemy residues to create affinity-exploiting magic.
  • Ultimate: Soundblood Song – Mark enemies with blood sigils so that allies get HP and FP boost whenever they strike the enemy.

Wylder

The Wylder is probably the easiest class in Elden Ring Nightreign and is suited for beginners. It’s a very forgiving class, so if this is the first time you’re stepping into any Soulslike title, be sure to start with this.

  • Passive: Sixth Sense – Lets you resurrect once after you’ve died in a single playthrough. This ability can be restored by resting at a Site of Grace.
  • Character Skill: Claw Shot – This is similar to the grapple hook that you’ve seen in many games like Just Cause. Not only can you close the gap between yourself and the enemy, but you can also knock some of them down.
  • Ultimate: Onslaught Stake – Throw an iron stake at the enemy, which pierces them and explodes, dealing massive AoE damage.

Executor

Not much is known about the Executor, apart from the fact that it draws inspiration from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. You’ll need to dodge and parry attacks a lot, so it’s safe to assume that this class is meant for players who are experienced in the Soulslike franchise.

  • Passive: Tenacity – You get a short boost when you’re recovering from different status effects.
  • Character Skill: Cursed Sword – Use a Cursed Sword, which is capable of deflecting enemy attacks for a short duration.
  • Ultimate: Aspects of the Crucible Beasts – Turn into a Primordial Beast for a short duration while fighting the enemy.

Revenant

The Revenant is a pure support character but with Necromancer-like abilities. She can raise ghosts and skeletons to fight for your team. However, it’s her ultimate ability that makes her an asset, because she can make herself and her entire team immortal for a short time.

  • Passive: Necromancy – Raise ghosts to fight against enemies on your behalf.
  • Character Skill: Summon Spirit – Play your lyre to raise a fallen family to help you in combat.
  • Ultimate: Immortal March – Turn yourself and your allies immortal for a short duration.

Apart from these seven, there’s an eighth Nightfarer called the Revenant, but we don’t know much about it yet. It’s believed that the class serves as a support healer, making it a valuable addition to the team.

Which Is the Best Class in Elden Ring Nightreign

Based on how each Nightfarer plays out, the Wylder is the best class because it’s aimed at both soulslike veterans and new players. It has balanced attack and defense stats, and its learning curve is very lenient. Additionally, if you’re looking to get more punch out of your characters, the Ironeye and the Executor are the ones that you should try. These are advanced characters, though, so the learning curve is steep, but extremely rewarding if you get the hang of them.
