Zack Snyder’s Justice League Trailer Is Here, & Jared Leto Joker Declares We Live in a Society

Now in color! After months of black and white teases, retconning, artistic photos, and cast drama, the official trailer forĀ Zack Snyder’s Justice League is here, and it’s full-on Snyder. Full of drama, heavy-handed music, and people with serious expressions pondering if their mothers are named Martha too, the trailer feels exactly like what you thought a Snyder cut of Justice League would feel like — even the random 1.66.1 aspect ratio (European Widescreen. Whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you.).

There is a ton of new content in the trailer for the nearly four-hour-long Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The trailer features our first truly good looks at both Darkseid and the redesigned Steppenwolf in action as they begin their assault on Earth, and Batman, after having a dream about the world’s downfall, begins bringing together the world’s mightiest heroes the Justice League. There’s also Superman in his all-black costume, new scenes for the Flash, and plenty of new shots of Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. It really does feel like a completely different movie.

However, the best part of the Zack Snyder’s Justice League trailer seems to be Snyder and Jared Leto throwing shade at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker with the line, “We live in a society.” The line was clearly written after Joker released since Leto is the only addition to the film that was not originally intended to be in it. The Shatnerian pause at the end of Leto’s delivery of the line seems to add a bit of a mocking note before Leto’s Joker is fully revealed. The actor was in a sense replaced by Phoenix after only one outing as the Clown Prince of Crime in Suicide Squad.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will release on March 18 on HBO Max.
