Slindis eventually begins making her way back to the house, rapier at her side. Her movements were slow, but her eyes showed that she was ready to defend herself in needed. When she notices Richardson, she immediately feels uneasy. This is not what I need right now. Hopefully I can talk him down so I don't get in a fight right now. "Would you mind explaining what you're doing out at this hour? I've already had to deal with bandits tonight, and I'd rather not have any more trouble."
Richardson immediately lifts his hands slightly. "Easy there, I only want to know whats going on around here." He looks around, "I'm guessing that the cuddly arms dealer isn't around?" Why am I the villain all of a sudden?
She chuckles. Well, there's the second thing to go right for me so far. "Well, your guess is as good as mine. If you're hunting after Rugal, though, he's not here. Rodem merely followed me after I managed to escape from the constructs that attempted to capture me." Slindis draws her rapier and sits down, looking at the blade. "I don't see the big issue with a weapons dealer. After all, people need ways to defend themselves, and the cutthroats will have the weapons whether or not they're legal." She runs her finger across the flat of the blade. "So then, you have what you wanted to know. What are you going to do now? I'd be hard pressed to fight near Rugal's strength even at the best of conditions."
Upon closer examination, it was clear that the man was very much asleep. Some guard he is. Jath examined the room he was in. He wondered where his sword was. He thought about his options. If he just killed the man, not only would he get no answers, but surely the elf would try and go after him. There had to be some way to find out where it was without getting in a fight. Didn't dat elf give dis guy a sword? It was a good plan. He could see the weapon lay next to the man. I'm gonna borrow dis fer a while. If yer friend plays her cards right ya'll see it again, he thought as he head out of the room.
After waiting for a while, she saw that she was going to not get a response and decided to do one last patrol around the town before she got some sleep. When she saw the troll from earlier leaving the inn, she cautiously approached it. "Are you from Droaam?" Her rapier, which was still drawn, was ready to strike if needed.
Well, ain't dat conventient? Saves ya da trouble ef lookin' fer her. "Droaam? Hah. Nevah heard of it. Quite da bad name fer a place, though. Say..." he said as he showed her the sword he took from the man "isn't dis yours?"
"Actually, that belongs to him." She gives a tired sigh. "Now, the last few days have been long. They were not fun, and they were not pleasant. To be honest, I'm in a very bad mood. So, before you start threatening me or anyone in this town, ask yourself: can you really afford this?" she taps her foot and waits for a response.
Well, isn't somebody going through dat time ef da month? Jath remained unimpressed. Ya thin' ya can scare me wit dat li'l act ef yours? Don't make me laugh. Compared ta what I've faced, yer nothin' but an annoyin' fly.Still, dat's not what I want. Ya got somethin' ef mine, elfie. I want it back.
Why does pragmatism have to include aiding a gencoidal maniac? He contemplated how to get a warning to her across without sounding confrontational , watching as she stood against the Troll. He decided to be blunt. "Well to be honest I don't know what to tell you. If you want to get a way back to your home by following him, then by all means. However, if he should attempt any of his MO...." Richardson raised hand and channeled energy into it, causing it to glow orange. "No one will stop me from bringing him to justice". Richardson powered down back to normal, taking a relaxed stance. "So, I found your Rapier, want it back?"
"Wait, you speak like a troll I met here earlier. Would you happen to be Jath? If so, I'm curious as to why you were sent back here again." While she waits for a response, she turns to Richardson. "I'll take the rapier back. Hilt first, of course. And if what you and Kazuya say happens to be true, there's still a lot that I don't know about Rugal." She closes her eyes, thinking about what had been said the past few days.
Jath did not expect to hear that. "How da hell do ya know my name? What is here? Whadda ya mean sent back? Just who are ya people?" Well, dis sure is gettin' interestin'.
"The Rugal here is one from a different universe to me, at first I thought he was just a opportunist, but your average businessman doesn't respond to warnings with fireballs the size of houses". Richardson folded his arms. "He also matches everything that I remember of him and have on record. Only he's a lot stronger......"
"Jath, you were the one to tell me your name. At the time, you were using ranged weaponry, and we met up with you in the desert. Of course, there's no telling how much time has passed since then." She sheathes her rapier. "It's awkward having to tell you this again, but I'm Slindis. If you can promise on your life that you'll not attack anyone in this town, I can get your weapon back." Seeing that the confrontation was done for the most part, she continues to talk to Richardson. "Well, he certainly is dangerous. However, the only wrong thing that I've seen him do while cooperating with him was the attack on the weapons factory, and the main reason I worked with him on that was due to the fact that the person in there thought we were nothing more than children to him to be scolded. When he decided to be a condescending jackass, he lost any chance of me cooperating with him."
"And I didn't get a word out of him for all of my diplomacy. Look I'll be around soon enough if you all need anything. And I warn you, Rugal my be nice to you now, but the second he gets a chance, he won't put two seconds of thought into it." Richardson turned and started walking. "Off-topic, but could you do me a favour and talk to that backsmith? I need something worked on soon".
Ranged weaponry, I we met when I was alive Jath sighed heavily. "I don't know ya, elf.An' nieder do I really care to. Gimme back my sword an' tell me where on Azeroth we be so I can be on my way. I got unfinished business ta take care of"
She nods curtly. "I'll keep that in mind. As for the blacksmith, I could try talking to her. You may have to pay her, but she has a fine eye for detail and a skilled smith." After she leaves, she looks at Jath again. "I don't know what this place is called, but I don't think it's this Azeroth you're talking about."
"She can have anything in the Valiant's hangar, I'll be around." Richardson walked off to explore the town.
Dis isn't Azeroth? Does da Lich King really have da powa ta banish me ta another world? "Fine, if ya don' know where we be, at least give me my sword back. I ain't gonna waste me time killin' peasants. Dat I promise."
She walked back to a tree by the inn and drew the sword from the bush she had put it in. "Here. I'm giving this to you for self-defense purposes, okay? There's been a few bandits around here recently, and they believe in numbers. They're also drunkards, but in all, they aren't much of a threat as a whole." The smell of blood and stale alcohol is still on her clothing. "So, what's your plan, Jath? This town might not be able to trust you too easily, but I'll try to smooth things over for you. Just don't do anything reckless."
"Ah, dere ya are." he said, sheathing his sword "I need time ta digest all dat's happened. I'll go take a walk out ef town. Although I don't see much ef a reason fer ya ta worry about me well bein', don't. I can take care ef meself much better dan ya tink." With that, he strode off.
Meanwhile | |
Owen woke with a jolt, he peered around the room and sighed. He turned on the radio as he shook the sleep from his head. "Slindis... Good news is, he's not a Covenant, atleast not one I've seen. Bad news, I have no idea where he is."
She wakes up to Owen's call. "Well, he's looking around the area surrounding this town."
Meanwhile | |
"Alright, I'm going out to the edge of town for some target practice, if you hear shots, that's me." Owen trudges off to the edge of town, walking about 200 yards away from the nearest building before bringing his rifle round and lying on the ground, lining the scope up to his eye he takes a shot at a bird perched on a branch, the bullet doesn't kill the bird, it disintergrates it, the bullet being so large and the shockwave simply shaking it to pieces. A smile slips across his face as more birds flee the tree line and Owen picks them off one by one. The rifle would sound exactly as it did when he was firing at Slindis from the ship.
"Rugal, think of the things you care about. Don't let that sadistic freak break you!" Her face was furrowed in concern, and the only thing stopping her from leaving at that moment was the fact that she wasn't in the condition to go on any expeditions by herself.
"What the?...." A Confused voice sounded over the Head set.
Damnit, the thing's more trouble than it's worth!"Just your not-so-local courier girl." The sound of gunshots can be heard in the distance.

"Troll? I heard of one around town, but that Owen captured him. As for that paladin, try takin' a look around town. She's not here right now, so I'd guess that she's doin' a patrol when she really oughta be gettin' some sleep." Lukah rubs her eyes, trying to stay awake. "You'll know when you see her, but go easy when ya talk to her. She's stubborn as a mule, and that rapier of hers is quicker than my hammer."
She yawns. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get some more sleep. I need to get on that armor early tomorrow, and the next part's gonna be a heck of a pain to do."
