Humble THQ Bundle Waves Bye-Bye to Indie - UPDATED Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 NEXT
It definitely looks good, i'm watching YouTube vids on it. I've been looking for an RTS game, and i want something somewhat different. Getting Darksiders, Metro 2033 and Saints Row 3 are pretty good for the 20 I paid.
Charity, THQ, same thing, right?
I kind of wish I could send some message along with my purchase because I feel like a jerk giving them such little money. But I already own almost all of these games and really just want the Company of Heroes expansions.
I never really watched Starcraft much but, I thought Idra was always considered the best non-korean SC2 player? I always liked HuK though. He seemed like he took the game less seriously and enjoyed it more.
Man! I just bought Saint Row: The third in the steam sales!
I feel your pain, the same happened to me with Botanicula.
This is good but it has me wonderign about THQ. will it affect any of the future games. also not many talk about company of heroes As a RTS player i think its the best one out there it has many methods of playing. reading on here that not many have even given it a go kinda makes me well a little mad. It is wonderful game awesome GFX good community and online experiance (if you avoid The sheldt and Hochwald gap maps) Also another thing about it is that it has the Germans from WW2 and they are not portrait as super evil or even narzi's.
Oh well, I gave SR3 to a friend. He is loving it
they need more. they are a half dead beaten racing horse on life support. also: dont ever RAP again, THQ. NEVER! and if people really were into charity, they would just contribute without having to be lured with "rewards" such as games...
Indie, no. Humble, absolutely. If I didn't own then all (each for more than they're asking) I'd be tempted to pay the going price, just out of goodwill.
Amazing bundle, although I already have Darksiders (pre-purchased it) and all of Company of Heroes (bought the base game twice, one retail, one Steam), I guess I'll handle them $10 for Saints Row 3 and also Red Faction Armageddon looks like fun, also let's hope they release the Dawn of War games, especially Space Marine *cross fingers*.
Your'e right. The charity is still there. That's definitely a good thing. Wish there was still a way to give the money to the people who made the game though, since most of the creators have either been let go or moved on, doing that is out of the question.
While I'd love to get it, I can't, hate that there's always some problem with payment methods. Also, I'd love to pay as much as the average for these, but money for games is not exactly a given for me at any given time.
Well, I already have most of the games, but I want those soundtracks! I guess I will be opening a steam trade thread a week or so after this closes! And I have to laugh at all the people whining that its not indi..
Just a quick note, the soundtrack for Saints Row 3 is really bad since most of the "good" stuff is licensed by several artists; for example "Power" by Kanye West, and they aren't part of the soundtrack. It just contains some of the really generic background stuff.
Assuming default split, THQ has nearly a million bucks now. Not bad, all things considered.
so if you buy these games can you use steam or do use something else?
I have been wanting some of these games for a while I am glad I did not get any of it in the last steam sale :)
Actually, if you pay less than a dollar, you get the soundtracks, but no games. Of course, why would you do that and be a cheap bastard? :P
It is my long standing tradition to throw 20 dollars at every bundle that piques my interest, that way all three groups get a nice payout for giving me such snazy games ^.^ And in this case soundtracks!
I am a bit since I got company of heroes and the expansions. Soooo glad I passed up on Metro 2033, I paid over the average and it was only £3.87 once it came back to british monies. Bargain. :3
You get keys to redeem on steam by "activating a product on steam".
Mentioned this bundle to my girlfriend, describing to her how it came about from originally being indie developers and what an awesome deal it usually is while helping charity at the same time. She had already bought and was downloading before I was even finished talking to her. I highly recommend this bundle for Saints Row 3. It's probably the most actual fun I've had within a game in a long, long time.
Yes, because it's not like people who want to give money to charity can just make a donation directly to Child's Play or one of the many other, far more important causes out there like AIDS research or digging wells in African villages or whatever. No, buying games from the Humble Indie Bundle is the only way to do good in the world. Bleh, I say to you. Bleh.
I bought it. Twice, actually. Would have been a third but my boyfriend already has most of the games. No interest in about half the games, but honestly I don't really care. Even getting Darksiders for a few dollars is worth it to me (never did try that game). I just left it at the default split, however, so I can't remember how much of that would be going to THQ. The BF is probably ecstatic now cause he'll be able to teach me how to play Company of Heroes.
Great looking bundle... just a shame I already own all of the games! I'd be better served just giving the money I would spend on it straight to charity... actually think I'll do that right now!
Definitely buying this, despite owning a lot of those games. THQ needs the cash.
Gave 5 buck for metro. Already baught Darksiders full price a while ago and I baugh the full saint row 3 pack on steam... I would not have payed higher for that game anyways.. Plus I had pre-purchased Darksiders 2 on steam.. Gave everything to THQ because.
Discounting games I already own, the only ones in the Bundle I'm interested in are the Company of Heroes ones. They look pretty sweet though, so I'll probably pick this one up. I love the Humble Bundles, so I like to think my patronage helps to encourage further Bundles. Not to mention that the current Steam price for even just the CoH games puts the average bundle price to shame.
SR3, Darksiders and Metro 2033 for the price of a footlong? Can't complain at all. I'll just add those to my collection of steam games that I can't even play until I get a new computer.
Gotta respect THQ for basically going, "Please help us. We're screwed and we'll take anything you can give." Most publishers in their position would just put their stuff on a 15%+ off sale, but they're funneling some money to charity while they're at it.
Definitely an interesting way to generate interest for franchises that will soon be having, or have recently had a sequel.
Ummm, no. Only game I have on the list is Metro. The rest I'm not exactly interested in, but for the $6 I gave them I'm happy I now have some more games to add to my "bored of everything else, let's try ____" list which is where most Humble Bundle games I buy go to. None of those games, save Metro, I'd have paid anything more for individually.
IMO, it's not that, it's a clearance sale and a last grab for whatever money they can get before it goes under.
Your right on the first count and probably on the second as well. I already had everything bar Armageddon and the COH series but I got the bundle anyway, I doubt it'll change anything but at least I tried to help (somewhat).
The main reason why I bought the Bundle is for Armageddon because I finally saw a video of it's gameplay a couple weeks ago, and being 1/7th (or 1/5th if you group the CoH games together), it's worth paying $6 to mess around with its gravity gun, while the extra 40 cents for Saints Row made it worth paying above the average price even though I know I won't find it as amusing as the Second game in that series. If I had to pay more for it, I would have passed. Even for $10-$20. It's no different than visiting the grocery store after Halloween and buying up all the left over packs of candy they want to get rid of dirt cheap. It's why I actually stopped going out on that holiday as a teen and bought tons of the packs afterward because I could pick what stuff I would enjoy and get as much of it as I wanted which made paying for it worthwhile.

To be honest, pretty much all I know about Company of Heroes is that HuK (was the best non-Korean StarCraft II player for a while) used to be considered one of the best CoH player, before switching to StarCraft. /eSports geek
