Hamill, Conroy to Reprise Batman Roles for Upcoming Game

Arkham Asylum turns into an “Animated Series” reunion as the fan favorites join lead writer Paul Dini.

Finally, something to be excited about when it comes to a new videogame starring the Dark Knight. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eidos sent word today that veteran voice actors Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will be taking up their respective roles as the Joker and Batman for next years original action title, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Hamill, who is best known for his role in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, has played the role of the sadistic Joker throughout many different series, including the entire run of “Batman: The Animated Series,” “Mask of the Phantasm” as well as “Justice League” and “Superman: The Animated Series.” With the exception Heath Ledger’s Nolanverse Joker, Hamill is considered by fans to be the voice of Bruce Wayne’s eternal nemesis. His mastery of the role is so great that when WB went to shoot the intro of the short lived live-action “Birds of Prey TV series (such a guilty pleasure), they had Hamill do the voice over for the Joker while an actor played the role off-screen.

Kevin Conroy is no slouch either, having played the role of “the goddamn Batman” longer than Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale, combined. His career as the Dark Knight began in 1992 with the “Animated Series” and provided him with regular work on series’ such as “Batman Beyond,” “Justice League,” “Gotham Knight” and of course, videogames like Rise of Sin Tzu.

So even if the game turns out to be a total stinker (fingers crossed that it won’t), at least we get to hear Hamill and Conroy go at it one more time. That’s enough for at least a rental, right?
