You know what would be awesome, a sandbox game with no plot whatsoever, no missions and a damn decent character customization system all of which would let me do whatever the fuck I want and have a damn good time doing it.
Prototype just came out today
... If you're playing along and making a joke too, I can respect that. If you seriously believe it, then I feel sorry for you.
The good/evil system really did fail. My idea would be a good/evil system were when you have a chance to upgrade the upgrades that are of the opposite nature (as in evil when you are good) will be more expensive or cheaper based on how good or evil you are. I.e. if you wanted to buy the orphan killing-kitten eating move it would only cost you 100 points if you were completely evil, 200 points if you were neutral and 300 points if you were an absolute saint.
nice review | |
Trust Yahtzee to find something dreadful in a game that other reviewers have thrown roses aplenty to. Also to answer the end credits question: I'm not sure it's worth pondering.
Oh my god he loves the game. I thought he was was going to crucify it. Best quote this far: ELECTRO BITCH FASCIST STATE! I got floored. I knew he was gonna complain about the karma system but hey, noone is perfect.
*Colbertesque eyebrow raise*
Epic win! If they are handing out superpowers at random...let me know :D
lol..i loved the last bit..
I am suprised that nobody posted beforee watching the video this time, or at least wern't obvious about it.
Where's the shrine so I can fucking worship you?
Naaaaah, I would so much want to laugh at this, but only the giant super-robots built by psychic hobos and "Save kitten OR cannibalise youths" are now in my mind. Adn WTF? He actually liked it? Grrr, more reason for me to mourn not having enough money to buy a PS3 and inFAMOUS. Actually it was even closer to his dream of a perfect sandbox game than Saints row 2.
Review was a bit tame this time, but I agree so much with all of it I don't care. Who started this stupid trend anyway? Was it Molyneux with Fable?
In my opinion that was quite possibly the funniest ZP yet. I've been seriously considering getting this game (and of course a PS3) if Prototype doesn't end up being the gaming messiah, and this review convinced me that it might just be a sensible course of action either way. I have tears in my eyes.
annnnd insert standard quib about american politics as if he were an american and knew one thing about it (other than what CNN tells him to know). high fives all around.
Good and evil are meaningless? I like how moral subjectivism is presented as fact.
It is a great game. I am having a field day with it. Pick it up.
Had a feeling he'd like it.
I want the Blender!!!!!!!!! Looks interesting, I shall look into this game.
Or maybe it will work in reverse and the economic collapse will heal itself:)
I like this one | |
Nice Review Yahtzee, You draw out my complaints about the game as well.
inFAMOUS as it likes to be typed was the game I thought to be mostly reviewed because it was hyped and an exclusive thus easy fanboy baiting... ...however he stated its a GREAT game (which I agree of course) and was more about the good/evil system in general. The games with the best good/evil with middle ground (in my opinion that I've played) are the Fallout games, old and new.
I absolutely adore Yahtzee and have been watching Zero Punctuation almost since its inception. But I suspect that much of his smart, irreverent humor is completely lost on the majority of his younger viewers. Which is a sad commentary on the American educational system. Now I'm just getting depressed... Leslee
I was really sickly hoping for Yahtzee to eviscerate this game for me as it is the sole and only game I have ever wanted to buy the PS3 for. DAMMIT YAHTZEE, YOU ARE NOT HELPING. :sniffle, misses Sucker Punch:
"looks like an angry patato" lol that was nice :D
He hit the nail on the head with the carma part. You have to be totally good or totally bad.
Me too actually. And the fact in Fallout 3 that if a bitch is being a bitch, I can shoot her and deal with the consequences how I please.
I too feel sorry for you, especially since Yahtzee laid out the Socialist plan right there in front of you at the end of the video. Maybe not exactly the plan, but damn close enough. Other than that sad tidbit at the end, great review Yahtzee.
He liked Infamous? He liked it? My God. An here I was doubting my choice of buying the game. But if the great game hater loves it then I am sold. Infamous here I come.
Gratz on the obvious! | |
You should have said that earlier. They were handing out at a local store over here.
Best for a while. *BAM* off-world slavery.

Damnit Yahtzee, now I'll HAVE to buy that game BEFORE Overlord II...
