Review: 3D Dot Game Heroes

The main character looks a lot like sir Schmoopy.

Looks pretty cool. Although this kind of only works on a portable medium. Not really extensive enough for a console release. I wouldn't get it if I had a ps3.

When I get this game I am totally making a schmoopy character now. :) Or a tardis character have not yet decided.

OT: I am buying this game day 1. Sure it is a zelda rip off but who cares it looks fun as hell. They know what it is and never deny it. I mean they even did a play on the old spice commercials that was awesome. I loved zelda and have played and beaten it many times. I own zelda but this is different even if it is the same. This just seems like good fun is only 39.99 and minigames like tower defense and has a big ass sword/fish how can you go wrong.

Actually it looks like the main character from Dragon Quest, which Sir Schmoopy is modeled after.

(...) the original Zelda for SNES (...)

For NES, or not the original Zelda.

I'm maybe buying it if the PS3 keeps dropping in price .

I love the chicken frenzy, then again i love zelda.

No, I'm talking about A link to the past, wich is the one it is copying. It is "the original" because 3d-dot-hero-whatever is the copy, got it?

IglooKid:
Wow, so many people saying they would look at this if they had a ps3, me included. Surely the system to release a mega-zelda-nostalgia-fest would be the Wii, that one that almost all nintendo fans and many other people besides own? Or am I missing something...

I thought the exact same thing when I first heard of it.

Fortunately, I own a PS3 as well, and despite the average reviews (seems like everyone feels the same about the game, no matter where you go), I plan on picking this one up, if only for the blissful nostalgia it will surely provide. Might not pick it up immediately, but I'll definitely be getting to it when my schedule clears up.

Meh. Why would I spend 60 bucks on a retro-nostalgia 3-D semi-ripoff of Link to the Past when I already own two versions of the original article?

I'm loving this game so far.
There's so much humor in it. Let me tell you too, if you're familliar with FROM Sofware's other games the game has much more appeal

There are many, many references not only to zelda, but to internet culture, Demon's Souls and Armored Core all throughout the game.

I love it and I do not regret buying it in any way.

The game is $40 USD

You get access to the character editor, you can make your main character anything you want. I made a grim reaper!

I've just spent a few good hours playing this after picking it up finally and quite frankly as a long time gamer.. I love it. There's references to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, obviously Zelda, one of the game codes is a throwback " Hide Shield - Enter at the pause menu: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square, triangle. Plus it is pretty enough and offers more visual variety than you first think to keep playing. The music switches from NES, to SNES, to PS1, to full score in an interesting effect as well and no one is mentioning that.
I'm a fan.

This game has recieved some mixed reviews, so I would just like to say, for the record, that I'm currently playing it, and F - ING LOVING IT!
