Funnily enough while I do enjoy the game, my biggest issue is one Yahtzee didn't bring up and that is there are a couple of missions it seems where the concept are sniping your way through a war torn city shifts to generic spy operations IE sneaking through underground bases, being forced the engage in CoD-style shot outs etc... They just aren't as plausible or fun compared to the missions that included large open landscapes.
Also for some reason I think the white protagonists sounds black (if that makes sense).

Yeah, I totally got that feeling from the demo. The opening narration starts up, and I instantly assume I'm playing a black character, for what I think would be the first time in a WWII game, but then NOPE! Generic white guy.
A friend of mine showed me some of the gameplay for this one. Most of what I remember about it stemmed from the fact that bullets ricochet off the pavement and bricks of the ruined streets of Berlin like Super Bouncy Balls.
I don't know if Yahtzee came across any of this in his run-through of the game, but if he didn't, it might be worth looking into - it's pretty hilarious, lol.
Frankly, who doesn't? Rule 34, my friend, it's a horrific, disgusting and wrong wonderful thing that every human who doesn't have a one single shred of dignity and deserves to die should see.
Um... well I don't.
You've never lived.
Yeah well while the Disney Princesses may be hot they aren't worth risking further scars to my brain for.
Great review as always, but I do want to point out that there was a difference between German soldiers and nazis. Most soldiers were consripted, and a lot followed the nazis because...they had no choice besides to flee. And most of said soldiers in the final days of the war were teenagers and old people, forced to be the last line of defence. So it's not excatly as guilt free as you first might think.
Yeah, Rebellion really does seem like a company that should have folded long ago. I guess as long as their games sell well, they can somehow keep going and I for one actually quite enjoyed Alien vs. Predator, even though I didn't find it very memorable as evidenced by the fact that I haven't really touched it since completing it two years ago.
Anyways, Sniper Elite V2. Uhm, well it looks very interesting. It has sort of an old school vibe (circa 2002) to it. I like it. I think I'll try the demo and then decide whether it's worthy of a purchase.

Especially when players are gloating over their perfect liver shot that leaves a terrified 15 year old German conscript slowly bleeding to death, the Panzerfaust he's been given just a week ago and expected to stop the Red Army with just out of reach.
Still waiting to play a morally challenged german soldier, a refugee from the khmer rouge, a poorly equiped russian soldier, an african child soldier...

That's why I've never liked games that have the slow motion kill effect. It goes beyond the quick, silly level of violence and just makes it unpleasent to watch. Do I want to know I'm hurting my enemy? Yes. Do I want to watch his organs explode to leave him screaming and dying in the street, all done in loving slow motion like some porn movie? No, not really.

At one point in the game I recall sneaking around near some soldiers who were talking. One of them says something about wondering if he'll have a home to go to once the war was over considering how trashed Berlin was. For some reason or another after hearing that I decided that I would spare him and made every attempt to get around him and his buddy without alerting them.

I find myself doing that in some games. Sucks sometimes they don't even give you the choice to avoid killing enemies. I mean, if you give them dialog like that, why make us kill them, unless you're going for the "War is Hell" angle. But if that were so, why all the slow motion "cum shot" views?
MonkeyPunch: Ima let you finish, but the Fins had arguably the most successful sniper of all time.
He wasn't so much a sniper as a stone cold badass who occasionally killed people with a sniper rifle. He had quite a few more kills with a submachine gun than with a rifle.

cant believe Yahtzee still does that, i mean i stopped doing that at 15 and 10 years later have moved on to way way way more sick, twisted, and disgusting things
oh goody another game where you get to mow down legions of Germans and not have to feel guilty about it just because they're "nazis" as a German, I'm really getting tired of this crap. how many more freaking WW2 shooters do we need? I GET IT, we Germans were the villains back then and Hitler's historical demonization is more than deserved, but murdering hundreds of German soldiers won't change anything. you know what the difference between a "Nazi" soldier and an ally solider was back then? the direction their guns were pointing. that's ****ing it. you're not fighting Hitler, Himmler or Goebbels in those games. you're fighting normal people who are defending their homeland. nothing more. you might as well control a nazi sniper and kill ally soldiers and it would be the same bloody thing, except for the the whole nazi stigma.

I will admit, this post made me laugh
Its a game, no reason to get all uppity about it.
Everyone knows that not all the nazi soldiers were kitten stomping evil madmen, you aren't telling anyone anything new.
Nazisploitation is what it is the devs were unable to come up with an original setting and villain, so they just made it WW2 and Nazis. it's the laziest you can possibly get as a writer. they don't have to tell any backstory or exposition, because everyone knows that nazis are bad Player: uhm, why should I care? Dev: those guys are Nazis Player: alright BAM BAM BAM
why are you killing people in this game? because the hero has a personal motivation to kill them? no because the story writes a villain that is hatable (like that Nazi guy in Indiana Jones)? no you kill them purely because they're Nazis and Nazis are bad. how shallow is that?
Balkan: She said I despise you ! and btw the funnyest ZP in a year .
TheIronRuler: Lol, I understood what the Russian girl said, "I despise you".
"I hate you" actually.
LIES! Did you use google translate?
I used litlle thingy called "native tongue". You see, I am from Ukraine and, for many centuries we were, let's say, slaves of Russian Empire, so we had to learn their language. Today, average ukrainian knows at least two languages: Ukrainian and Russian (unlike average russian, who mastered only a single tongue, he-he).

. ....I'm Ukranian, well, was, now I'm in Israel. So... Yeah.
