Skyrim Will Feature Tentacle Bears ... Maybe

Yeah, looks like if it's not a mammoth and tusks, and what not. That there is a bear BEHIND the tentacle creature.

Looks like a centaur and a brown bear made love.

All hail the Bearadactyl!

OT: It's obviously a mammoth with a bear behind it. You can see the other tusk buried in the snow along with the trunk.

That said, this guy in the pic pretty much summed up everything my character is going to be. I do hope armor and weapon stats are slightly more even all around, so you can finally use the weapons you want, instead of just what's better. I don't wanna use a stupid daedric sword, I want my steel longsword!

Is that a cliff-racer bear?

In the context of Elder Scrolls, that was my thinking, too.

Once you've played enough Morrowind, the threat of another cliff-racer invasion is a perpetual worry, and having them crossed with bears infinitely worse.

It's a bear and mammoth. That said, Bethesda should definitely incorporate a monstrosity like this.

SHH!! No! It's a BEARCTOPUS! No mammoth there! If it was a mammoth, where is his jet pack and rollers?!

That bear is definitely not attached to those "tentacles". The bear is behind the carcass of what I assume is (like it said in the article), a mammoth. Honestly I'm surprised they posted it on the Escapist.

No. I don't see any tentacles. I see a tusk, but no tentacles. I also see a trunk going into the snow and a bear behind the corpse of a woolly mammoth, but i can't seem to find any tentacles...OH SHIT! TENTACLE BIRD-oh wait...that's just an ordinary bird flying over the corpse of a woolly mammoth, simple mistake, my bad.

New concept art reveals new environments and (possibly) one of the strangest monsters to ever fight a viking.

Bethesda is continuing to tease out more and more details for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, though this may be the most tantalizing reveal yet. The developer has released some new concept art for the game that shows some new, viking-oriented locales in the game. Oh, yeah, and what looks like one of the most bizarre monsters you'll ever hope to see.

Most of the art is pretty standard for fantasy RPGs, featuring medieval statues, creepy dungeons, and mountain fortresses. But the gorilla in the room is the image seen here: that's right, it features a viking getting ready to beat down a bear that's sporting tentacles. That's what it looks like, and several sites are reporting it as such.

It's certainly a bizarre image, but when I threw the concept art into Photoshop and enlarged it, I realized that the image might instead be of a bear standing over the corpse of a wooly mammoth. That said, the possible tusks look a lot like fleshy tentacles, and I think a tentacle bear could be one of the coolest in-game monsters I've ever heard of.

Its a dead mamoth with a roaring bear behind it.... why do you have the need to fail this hard my friend!?

Wait till you see the fucking spiders... shudder

Replace those ugly bearded Vikings with hot chicks, and you got yourself a JRPG :D

Admittedly, I haven't played that many JRPG titles (except maybe DevilMayCry) on account of most of those titles being console-exclusives ...but I mean COME ON PEOPLE! Hot chicks dressed in furs and tentacle-bears! That right there is a recepy that would put Dead or Alive to SHAME :D

Displacer Bear!!!!!

But yeah that's totally a mammoth or something dead in the snow and a bear trying to protect its food from the viking dude.

Yeah how did you guys mistake that for a tencacle. And even if it was a tentacle it was obvious that the bear and the thing on the ground are not the same object....sometimes ppl want things so bad they make up shit :D :D :D When i red the article in the escapist menu i was like...WTF???
dont hype things like that :D

I now demand tentaclebears! Um, with coffe... Two lumps.

I'm pretty sure that that is a corpse of some variant of a woolly mammoth, otherwise the vultures wouldn't be there.

It's not.

But I'd like it to be a tentacle bear.

Is that a cliff-racer bear?

I honestly have no idea.

Looks like it just got a look at itself in a mirror, though.

"Is that me? NO WAI!"

It's a Bethesda game. Someone can just mod in tentacle bears.

I thought that it was pretty clearly a bear standing over a mammoth.
But this is still good news if you ask me, bears and mammoths are both pretty badass and woulf make for interesting enemies.

But after seeing this image, I noticed that the mammoth appears to have another smaller tusk underneath the very clear one, and there seems to be a few more in the snow, and those ones appear more tentacle-like than the biggest one. But they still don't seem to be coming from the bear. Maybe from the Mammoth? Tentacled mammoth... I'd like to fight that alright.

No, see, that is definitely a dead woolly mammoth and a bear.

hmm... I hope the game includes a tentacle bear saddle!

There's your hot chick :P

Meh, Dragon-Age renders em' better ...less wrinkles too D:

But you kinda missed the whole point of my post.
I'm talking about REAL women (so-to-speak) that can kick-ass and take names, yet still manage to look HOT while doing so.

Case-in-Point:

That's Bear-fur for her shoulde-pads btw :D ...oh yeah, and it's a patched version of Morrigan in case you were wondering :P

PS: Does anyone else think Claudia Black would make a stunning Morrigan for a Live-Action based off Dragon-Age :D
image

OT: Nevermind, I just realized that IS Claudia Black lending her voice and likeness to Morrigan in Dragon Age ...Hot Dang! :D

It's not a tentacled mammoth; it's just got four tusks, akin to a Mumak from the Lord of the Rings.
The second long "tentacle-like" thing in the snow is just the mammoth's trunk.

I kind of find it hard to think that those "tentacles" are coming from the bear. They do look rather like tentacles, but they're obviously attatched to some mass that can't possibly be part of the bear; it's too far away.

OK, would you have really read an article that was just about new concept art? It was a goofy image and I thought it was funny that other sites were reporting on the whole idea of a "tentacle bear". It was a fun, goofy way to write an article and most people seem to enjoy it. Sorry you didn't.

Damnit. That would have been an epic enemy. If history repeats itself though Skyrim will have some strange enemies in it just like the previous two Elder Scroll games.

Roflmao

While I'll admit that I couldn't figure out that image for a good week, this sort of proves how much quality control internet news media has, doesn't it?

Oh my god!!!! I so can't wait for this!

...im sure this is a joke... but i cant help to say...(if its not a joke) its obviously a dead woolly mammoth (with multiple tusks) and a bear that was interrupted by the viking while he was eating said dead woolly mammoth

Bethesda BETTER have seen this, I REALLY want a hidden tentacle bear in the game now :D

Yeah a tentacle bear would be freaking awesome, but I doubt Bethesada is going to do that due to their tradition of using standard medieval fantasy enemies such as trolls, goblins, and minotars.

It is a freakin' mammoth!

Yep, mammoth.

However, this should be the first thing modded into the game.

Why can't it be a tentacle bear?!

I'd love to fight one!

That's clearly a mammoth and a bear.
