How to Plot Routes in Roadcraft

Here's how you can plot routes between two different points in Roadcraft so that your delivery trucks have a path to follow.

To fix the disaster struck areas in Roadcraft, you’ll need a constant supply of materials, so you’ll have to plot proper routes for your vehicles.

At first, your routes on the map will be simple because your presence on the map is simple and limited. But as you expand your operations, your routes will become increasingly complex so you’ll have to ensure that they don’t overlap, otherwise your vehicles might crash into each other. These routes feed into the chaotic nature of the game, which becomes even more chaotic when you’re playing with friends.

How to Build a Route Between Two Points in Roadcraft

You can only build a route after you’ve set up your first forward base. Once you’ve done that, you will then need to transfer parts from your base to the Phosphate Plant. To plot a route, you need to:

  • Open the map and access the “Route Infrastructure” tab.
  • Under this tab, you should find an option that says start plotting.
  • Select your start point and end point, and then set small points between your two waypoints.

When you place these points, you’ll need to ensure that these points and the route itself avoids the following:

  • It shouldn’t cross over any rough terrain.
  • Since your convoy consists mostly of trucks, it shouldn’t have any impossible turns.
  • The route shouldn’t have any obstacles, otherwise your trucks will be stuck for good.

While plotting a route in Roadcraft, you’ll only get limited points, so keep it as direct as possible. If there’s a natural road available, then go around it. That’ll help you avoid unnecessary hassles. Additionally, always drive the route before you send your delivery vehicles. This will help you figure out if the terrain is muddy enough to get your wheels stuck in the ground. Not just that, you can also move any debris which would’ve caused your route to fail.

After you’ve done all the necessary scouting and cleaning, it’s time to see if your trucks can make the route that you’ve set up for them. In case the trucks get stuck, you can always edit the waypoints and try again. There’s no additional cost for editing and setting up routes afresh, so feel free to tweak the path as many times as you can to get the most efficient path.

If a plotted route works in Roadcraft, your trucks will start running automatically. This should help you earn money and resources passively. After sufficient number of vehicles have passed on them, you’ll unlock two trophies to commemorate your achievement of becoming a successful route planner.
