New Tales from the Borderlands Gets Official Reveal Trailer at Gamescom

Gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL) 2022 is currently underway. The night is still young, with several announcements so far and more still coming. One bit of news should have been a surprise but was spoiled by an Amazon leak: New Tales from the Borderlands from Gearbox Software received an official reveal trailer. It will launch on October 21 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. There will be both standard and deluxe editions of the game, and even details of the deluxe edition were leaked in the previous Amazon leak.

I’m already a fan of the diverse cast, including a disabled person. No gameplay to show yet, but the story looks interesting. There’s violence, intrigue, terrifying creatures, and bad guys that exude corporate sliminess.

You’ll control characters Anu, Octavio, and Fran as they:

  • Face down a planetary invasion
  • Battle vicious Vault monsters
  • Dismantle cold-hearted capitalists
  • Endeavor to change the world, and maybe even save it!

Unlike the mainline Borderlands series, the Tales franchise is more narrative-driven, with choices that impact the plot. The main antagonists will be exploitation and corporate greed, just like in real life! It’s a little close to home, but at least I can feel like I’m fighting back in a video game setting.
