Snake Eyes Teaser Trailer Reveals Ninjas, Action, and Origins

They say knowing is half the battle, and now we know a bit more about Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Following the reveal of first-look images, Paramount has dropped the first Snake Eyes teaser trailer, and it gives us a tantalizing glimpse at some ridiculous action along with Henry Golding learning the ways of ninjas.

Obviously, as a teaser trailer, there isn’t a lot to go on here, but the action definitely looks over the top, leaning heavily into the ninja antics we saw with Snake Eyes in the first two films. We do get our first look at the iconic Snake Eyes mask, and it’s pretty much in line with what we saw in the previous films. It seems that Snake Eyes will also not be silent throughout the film like he was in the previous movies. Maybe a reason for his lack of talking will arise by the end of the movie.

The film will find Golding becoming Snake Eyes as he is welcomed into an ancient ninja clan. However, he is not who he seems to be, and as he fights to save the world, secrets from his past may destroy him. It’s all very cut and dry action movie stuff, but as long as that action is solid, it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Director Robert Schwentke doesn’t have the best track record, though, with his last efforts being the Divergent series and R.I.P.D.

Snake Eyes also stars Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, ƚrsula CorberĆ³ as the Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Takehiro Hira as Kenta, and Iko Uwais as Hard Master. The movie has been delayed routinely alongside G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant, but Paramount finally seems to be getting the franchise back off the ground after years of issues with screenplays and scheduling.
