Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy Roadmap Explained

Year of Prophecy is the new direction that Destiny 2 is taking, with Edge of Fate being its first expansion. 

Just like the Light vs. Darkness saga that concluded with The Final Shape, this one is also expected to last for multiple years and will explore some major storyline beats that have remained unexplored so far. The Year of Prophecy will have two major expansions and two major updates, deviating from the general content policy the developers have followed so far. 

What to Expect from Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy

The Year of Prophecy is being divided into two expansions: 

• Edge of Fate
• Renegades

These expansions will feature individual seasons, namely Reclamation and Lawless, respectively.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Roadmap

Edge of Fate releases on July 15 after Rite of the Nine ends and will feature a new Raid. Here’s what you can expect from the expansion: 

• New Raid (July 19)
• New weapons and armor 
• Rewards Pass 
• Major Update – Ash and Iron (September 9) 

For the major update, Guardians will venture into the Plaguelands. While it’s unclear what storyline this section will follow, there’s a possibility that a SIVA-themed story could be in order.  The area has been quarantined since the Rise of Iron, so it will be something worth watching out for because Destiny veterans love this region. 

The Raid will also feature a Raid Race where everyone gets to compete for the title of World’s First. This has been a staple for every new Raid release in Destiny 2, and will continue in the new saga too. 

Destiny 2 Renegades Roadmap

Renegades releases on Dec. 2, 2025, and will feature a new dungeon, and will have the following content: 

• New dungeon (Release date TBA)
• New Weapons and Armor
• Rewards Pass
• Major Update – Shadow & Order (March 3, 2026)

The major highlight for Renegades is the overarching Star Wars theme. Apart from cosmetics, you’ll also be able to use a Lightsaber. It’s currently unclear if this collaboration is like Fortnite, but given how extensive it is, it’s hard to dub this an inspiration. 

Although Bungie hasn’t announced it yet, it’s likely that the dungeon from Renegades will also see a World’s First race like Sundered Doctrine from Episode Heresy. Information about Renegades is still under wraps and will be revealed in a livestream later this year.
